Getting Around

Laila has just about started to crawl, in the traditional since. She is army man crawling and she does very well at it. She can move quite fast especially when she is trying to get in to trouble. I have put together a few of our videos showing her progress. I will update it once she is crawling or even walking.

Sleeping in the JumperRoo

Laila fell a sleep in the JumperRoo a few Saturdays ago. She was jumping away listening to the her Rockabye Baby CDs that Ty and Susan got for her when she just could not help but take a nap. She loves the JumperRoo so much than she even woke up for a small stint and continued to jump only fall back a sleep. After I stoped filming I went to take her out. As I was picking her up she woke up and continued to jump. I think she is addicted to her JumperRoo.

The Reverse Inch Worm

Laila hates tummy time and no matter how hard I try to get her to see that if she spends time on her tummy she will learn to crawl she still hates it. Here are some photos of how she has learned to do the Reverse Inch Worm to get around the room. I do not have video of it yet but I will keep trying.

The picture are not of the best quality. Every time I break out the camera to catch her in the act she stops and looks at me. Then all she want to do is strike a pose for the camera.

How the Revers Inch Worm works. First she arches her back rolling all her weight up to her head. Then she scoots her bottom up towards her head and then slides her head on the floor. As a result she now has the biggest bald spot. I fear that her hair will never grow in back there.

Laila has mastered sitting!

Laila has finally mastered the art of sitting. She does great and prefers to sit over any other position including cuddling with mom or dad. Her are some photos of her newly mastered art.

Laila's First Roll

Laila had been trying to roll over for a few weeks before she actually did it. In the beginning she would roll from her back to one side, most often the left side, while talking about it the whole time. Since we knew that she was just waiting for the perfect moment to take the roll we had the camera ready.

The day she actually rolled over she had been especially vocal while laying on her back on the ottoman so as I went out side to water the garden I asked Jeremy to lay with her, just in case she tried to throw her self off the ottoman. As it turned out it was an exciting day in the garden too, so I ran in to the house to tell Jeremy that we had three bell peppers starting to form when I realized that Laila was now on her tummy. I asked him if he put her that way, Jeremy likes to do tummy time, he said that he had not noticed that she was on her tummy. We both realized a the same time that she must have put her self on her tummy. I ran an got the camera and Jeremy put her on her back and we waited to see if she would do it again. She did with very little coaxing. Here is the video that we shot of her rolling over for the first time, well at least that we got to see.

I was so excited when she first rolled over but it was a little bitter sweet moment. I had hoped so much that she would be as excited as I was but as you can see from the video, she was not very happy about being on her tummy. It has been about a month since this video was shot and she can freely go from tummy to back and back to tummy. She does tend to forget that she can do this when she acidently ends up on her tummy, she will tell you loudly.

Laila & The JumperRoo

Not much to say about this video, I think it speaks for it self. Laila LOVES her JumperRoo and spends as much of the day as she can.

Here is a silly video that I made using a new program I just bought. It shows Laila as a new born to ~2 months old. I tried to keep the theme to her sleeping and fussing. She does not fuss enough to have it only be her fussing. Any ways, I thought it turned out kind of cute so I thought I would share it. The song is "Crazy" by The Asteroids Galaxy Tour.

RIce Cereal, July 10, 2009

Laila got sick shortly after we returned from our Seattle trip. She ended up needing Amoxicillin which I was supposed to give her in a syringe. The syringe lasted about two day before it broke which resulted in me spoon feeding her two doses a day. She has since become infatuated with the spoons.
I decided that even though we are still a month and a half a way from 6 months we would play with rice cereal. Her are some videos and pictures of our adventures with rice cereal.

New to this.

I am new to this Blogging idea. Only recently while trying to make a video of the little one triumphantly, although in her mind not as triumphantly as it was irritating, rolling over from her back to her stomach for the grandparents to see, did I decide to start this blog. I want to give grandparents, family and friends the ability to come and enjoy the growth and development of our little Laila Marie.
